Tutorial: Landscape

1. Render –> Clouds [repeat till you get something you like]
2. Adjust –> Curves [load this]
3. Select –> Color Range [make sure black is your foreground color, I used 58, also do not deselect the selection this makes!!]
4. Select –> Feather [I use 3-5, 3 is best]
5. Render –> Clouds [this is with the selection from step 3]
6. Copy [ctrl+c] the selection and paste [ctrl+v] as a new layer, name it lake]
7. Go to the first layer and load step 6′s selection [ctrl+left click]
8. Invert the selection [ctrl+shift+I]
9. Render –> Difference Clouds [with the selection from step 8]
10. Load up a flat ground texture or use my sample textures], size whatever texture you use to the size of the aerial landscape image we are working on and copy [ctrl+c] it and paste [ctrl+v] it as a new layer in the aerial landscape image [name it texture]
11. On the texture layer that you just pasted load up the the Lake selection [ctrl+left click] and press delete [make sure your on the texture layer]
12. Go to the very first layer, select all [ctrl+a] and copy [ctrl+c] it, then got to the channels tab, create a new channel and paste [ctrl+v] the copied layer
13. Go back to the layers tab and make sure you are on the texture layer with no selection selected [press ctrl+d to make sure nothings selected]
14. Render –> Lighting Effects and select Rock from the drop down menu
15. Go to the first layer, and load the Lake selection [ctrl+left click]
16. Adjust –> Hue/Saturation [crtl+U, check colorize and try to get a nice water looking blue]
17. Distort –> Ocean Ripple [settings: size - 9, magnitude - 9]
18. Make sure you have the Lake layer hidden and merge your image and marvel at your masterpiece
